1. Question: What is the difference between a course and a workshop?

  • Courses are 1.5 days
  • Workshops are half day

We have received regular requests from local Physios interested in doing shorter workshops; however if you are an interstate or overseas Physio we would recommend you enrol in a more comprehensive 1.5 day course.

This year we are offering;

  • TMJ and introduction to cranial techniques – this 1.5 day course not only covers assessment and treatment of the TMJ, but also includes cervical spine functional techniques (in sitting) and neural techniques of both the upper and lower limb and cranial techniques. How all these may influence TMJ pain is covered.
  • Assessment and treatment of the TMJ – half day; at the completion of this shorter workshop you will be confident to treat the TMJ.

RTUS and Exercise

Both the 1.5 day and half day cover assessment and retraining of transverse abdominus and pelvic floor using RTUS and downtraining of phasic muscles.

In the 1.5 day course you will also learn upper and lower limb neural testing to improve recruitment of the stability muscles, RTUS quadratus femoris assessment and hip stability exercise programming.

2. Question: What is the 1:1 training?

We offer 1:1 Training at our physio clinic in Sydney. This is ideal for learning RTUS or TMJ if you are unable to make it to one our courses or workshops. It is best to book this for 1.5 – 2 hours at a minimum. It is ideal to bring a friend or colleague so that you have someone to do the practical session with. These sessions are usually offered during the week, ideally Wednesday or Thursday between 10 and 4pm. Other times are available upon request. Your 1:1 training session will be with one of our Senior Physiotherapists – this is dependent on the time that you book. Please email; info@physiocoachingacademy.com for further details.

3. Question: Can I gain CPD points by attending courses or workshop?

All courses, workshops and 1:1 sessions can be counted towards your CPD log. You will be issued with a Certificate with the details and hours of training of the session you have attended.

4. Question: If I am not a Physiotherapist can I still attend a course?

The training we offer is most suitable for physiotherapists working in clinical practice treating musculoskeletal conditions. If you are an exercise physiologist, exercise and sports science graduate, massage therapist, pilates teacher or other allied health professional you are most welcome to attend. If you are unsure if a session is suitable for you please connect with us.  Info@physiocoachingacademy.com

5. Question: I cannot get to Sydney to attend a course; do you offer online training?

We currently have DVD’s available from https://physiocoachingacademy.com/product-category/dvd/ , and downloadable clips of the practical techniques taught in our workshops are on our youtube channel: www.youtube.com/channel/UCoOdjGWyWSYBt-tjENOqMPg

6. Question: Regional subsidy

If you are a Physiotherapist who works in a regional area of Australia we invite you to apply for our regional subsidy to attend one of our courses.

7. Question: Will there be tests or exams?

Your skills are assessed and refined throughout the practical components of each workshop; there are no tests or exams as such.

8. Question: What is the format of your courses and workshops?

The lecture component of the training sessions are kept to a minimum. You will be sent pre reading to provide a background and overview of the research on each specific topic. We only take 8 – 10 participants in each session in order to offer personalised tuition and plenty of practical experience. Half day workshops are on a Saturday from 12.30 -6pm, and 1.5 day Courses are Saturday 1 – 6pm and Sunday from 10am-5pm. Snacks, Sunday lunch and training materials are provided.

9. Question: Where are the workshops held?

Workshops are held at our clinic The Physiotherapy, Posture and Fitness Clinic; Randwick, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. We are approximately 30 -45 minutes from Sydney Airport. See the “About Us” link for our location, public transport and parking options.

10. Question: Is there post-workshop support for attendees?

We welcome your email questions.  If you have attended a course previously, please email your queries to info@physiocoachingacademy.com and we will pass these on to our presenters. You may also want to organise a 1:1 training session with the presenter at our clinic to review the techniques you learnt in a course.
